Italy, Umbria, Castle with view onto Lake Trasimeno |
 |
| The castle comprises 5 buildings: the main palazzo, a guesthouse, a private chapel, a former prison and a carport. The castle still keeps its original circular structure with high boundary walls, a wonderful chapel in stone and old terracotta and four watchtowers, which are integrated along the boundary wall. One tower is suitable to create a lovely apartment with view onto Lake Trasimeno. Restoration works were carried out under the supervision of the Italian ministry of culture and according to modern anti-earthquake techniques. The transformation from an armed fortress to a luxury estate was achieved by integrating large windows and by replacing the old drawbridge with a large iron gate. Old particulars remained like ceilings with original wooden beams and terracotta tiles, brick built vaults, an old stone fireplace, exposed bricks, old stone window and door surroundings and impressive arches. |
