Agricultural estate in the Extremadura with 570 hectares of land for the breeding of black Iberian pigs

Agricultural estate for sale with about 570 hectares of land, which comprises about 120 hectares of holm oak woodland, 95 hectares of olive groves, 130 hectares of arable land as well as meadows and pastures on 210 hectares. The property is ideal to keep cattle (about 400), sheep (about 3,000) and/or Ibérian pigs.
The manor house is spacious, a hotel business with 10 guest rooms and a large air-conditioned hall (seats 400) with an adjacent chapel are perfect for celebrations and functions.
The estate has also been granted the extremely rare permission to keep Ibérico pigs. The Ibérico pig is a native breed that is unique in the world. The animals must be kept in a special free environment, the "dehesa", where they are kept in the open air. This is a protected ecosystem recognised by the EU. Such dehesas are found in only a few areas, one of which is Extremadura. The main feature of this landscape is the numerous holm oaks, whose acorns are the exclusive food of the purebred Ibérico pigs. The acorns contain numerous unsaturated fatty acids that accumulate in the muscle meat of the pigs and are responsible for the excellent flavour and appearance of Iberian ham (Jamón Ibérico). The Regulatory Council of the Protected Geographical Area for Extremadura Iberian Ham only authorises the pigs to be reared after extensive checks have been carried out to ensure that the country really does have the necessary criteria in terms of the quality and quantity of the acorns. This valuable authorisation for the breeding of Iberian pigs is valid due to the nature of the estate itself, which is why breeding can be resumed if there is interest. A prospective buyer could either manage the pig farm himself or lease the dehesa.
There is also the possibility to keep up to 400 cattle or 3,000 sheep.
